The European Parliament Votes 324-155 to Condemn the US Supreme Court’s decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade
The EU is thoroughly committed to cultural leftism.
It’s safe to say that cultural progressivism is the standard throughout the Collective West.
This was most apparent when the United States Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022. Not only did this move by the Court generate backlash from American liberals and leftists, it has also provoked a nasty reaction from European nations who are members of the European Union and NATO.
Previously, several public figures of NATO member nations expressed their concerns about the US Supreme Court’s abortion decision. They believed that this decision called into question NATO’s commitment to liberal values.
On July 7, 2022, the European Union parliament upped the stakes by voting 324-155 to criticize the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. 38 members of parliament abstained from voting on this resolution.
In this resolution, the members of the European Parliament called on the EU to feature abortion rights in its fundamental rights charter. In addition, this resolution demanded that EU countries provide "safe, legal and free abortion services, pre-natal and maternal healthcare services, voluntary family planning, youth-friendly services, and HIV prevention, treatment and support, without discrimination."
"The United States has clearly shown why we must use every tool available to safeguard abortion rights in the European Union,” declared Stéphane Séjourné, a French MP and the president of the liberal Renew Europe political group in the EU Parliament.
“It teaches us a lesson: Women’s and girls’ human rights can never be taken for granted, and we must always fight to defend them,” stated Helene Fritzon, a Swedish MP and Vice-Chair of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats parliamentary alliance of Socialists and Democrats.
These comments from EU politicians and the resolution they voted on just show how out of touch the Old Continent is from Middle America. Urban centers, especially in American coastal areas, relate more to the EU and its globalist values.
This is one reason why the US should completely abandon NATO and start focusing more on its domestic affairs and on the Western Hemisphere. Europe is part of the post-West which is obsessed with civilization-destroying mass migration and deviant lifestyle values.
Cultural leftists in Europe kvetching about the US’s sovereign domestic policies is a sign of why the US must chart its own course and make a clean break from European affairs. This is a region that is in clear cultural, economic, and moral decline.
