Charles Percy's attitude of skepticism toward Israel was well known for many years before he ran for the U.S. Senate in 1966. He had been a protege of President Dwight Eisenhauer for at least a decade.

At the peak of Percy's campaign in mid-September of that year, a man broke into Percy's suburban home at night and murdered Percy's twenty-one-year-old daughter, Valerie. She was struck on the head with a blunt instrument and stabbed more than a dozen times.

This was not a robbery. Jewelry and a wallet on Valerie's dresser were left untouched.

Perhaps the ruthless people who organized the murder hoped that Charles Percy would abandon his campaign for office, but instead he persisted and was elected to the U.S. Senate, where he eventually became chair of the Foreign Relations Committee and a thorn in AIPAC's side.

The murder of Valerie Percy has never been solved. The fact that it had all the hallmarks of numerous Sicarii (fanatical Jewish religious zealot) political murders in Israel was deemed irrelevant by investigators.

And note, Paul Findley was the first member of Congress to suggest Israel had a role in the Kennedy assassination: https://newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/clay-waters/2019/08/14/nyts-seelye-ignores-anti-semitic-conspiracies-rep-findley-obit-hits
