Behind the gamified interfaces of our most popular dating apps lies a centralized corporate architecture designed not just to match couples, but to fundamentally re-engineer the social fabric of American life.
Islamic political commentator Daniel Haqiqatjou highlighted the Jewish overrepresentation of online dating services when he recently tweeted, “Online dating apps are fueling unprecedented promiscuity, which is destroying women’s desire and ability to bond in long-term relationships. I was shocked to discover that Jews are playing a leading role in these developments. Online dating is dominated by Match Group, which owns and operates the largest global portfolio of popular online dating services including Tinder, Match.com, Meetic, OkCupid, Hinge, Plenty of Fish, and Azar. Jewish billionaire Barry Diller, head of IAC, created Tinder as well as Match Group. In 2020 Match Group separated from IAC. It is now run by Jewish CEO Spencer Rascoff.”
The dominance Haqiqatjou describes is not hyperbole. Match Group controls roughly 55 percent of global online dating revenue and a dominant share of the American market through Tinder (which alone holds 31.4 percent U.S. market share), Hinge, Match.com, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, and more than 45 niche applications worldwide.
The corporate trail leads back through a small cluster of Jewish executives whose careers intertwine at the highest echelons of American technology and media.
Behind the roster of apps stands one man’s holding company. Barry Diller was born in San Francisco on February 2, 1942, and raised in Beverly Hills. He dropped out of UCLA and started in the William Morris Agency mailroom before rising through ABC, where he created the made-for-television movie and pioneered the miniseries format. He became chairman and president of Paramount Pictures from 1974 to 1984, overseeing hits including Saturday Night Fever, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Grease, and Terms of Endearment, before leaving after a conflict with Gulf + Western’s new management. At Fox, he partnered with Rupert Murdoch to co-found the Fox Broadcasting Company, greenlighting The Simpsons and Married...with Children. He then acquired a stake in QVC before pivoting to internet commerce in the mid-1990s and building what became IAC, an online conglomerate spanning Ticketmaster, Expedia, Match.com, Citysearch, LendingTree, and eventually Tinder. Forbes places his net worth at approximately $5.3 billion as of 2026. He remains chairman of IAC and Expedia Group.
Diller’s path has not been free of controversy. He faced a 2019 suit claiming he orchestrated side deals in the Expedia-Liberty merger to protect his own legacy stakes, settled in Delaware Chancery Court in 2021. Sean Rad, Tinder’s co-founder, also filed a $2 billion suit accusing IAC and Match of deliberately undervaluing Tinder to shortchange the founding team—a case that ended with a $441 million settlement.
The company’s leadership has since passed to a new figure. Spencer Rascoff took the helm of Match Group in February 2025. Born October 24, 1975, the Harvard University cum laude graduate in Government worked in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and private equity at TPG Capital before co-founding Hotwire.com around 1999, which sold to IAC for $685 million in 2003. He then co-founded Zillow in 2005 and served as its CEO from 2010 until 2019, overseeing the company’s 2011 IPO and 15 acquisitions, including Trulia for $3.5 billion in 2014. After leaving Zillow he co-founded dot.LA and Pacaso, a fractional second-home ownership startup, before his appointment to Match Group.
Rascoff’s tenure at Zillow included a trade secrets lawsuit brought by Move Inc. alleging Zillow poached two executives—Errol Samuelson and Curt Beardsley to obtain confidential data, including information about a potential Move-Trulia merger that Zillow allegedly used to acquire Trulia first. Rascoff denied the allegations throughout the case, which settled for $130 million in June 2016 without admission of wrongdoing. Shareholders also sued Zillow, Rascoff, and CFO Kathleen Philips in August 2017, alleging the company’s agent-lender co-marketing program violated RESPA’s anti-kickback provision and that executives made materially false statements about its compliance, artificially inflating the stock price. Under his current leadership, Match Group faces a 2025 lawsuit alleging failure to act on reports of sexual assault tied to Tinder and Hinge matches, plus a Senate inquiry from Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) on safety practices.
The founder at the center of those disputes has his own story. Sean Rad created Tinder in 2012 at IAC’s Hatch Labs incubator, initially as a hackathon project called Matchbox built with developer Joe Munoz—with co-founders Justin Mateen, Jonathan Badeen, and Whitney Wolfe joining the team in the following months. By 2015, Tinder was the top-grossing app in 99 countries. Because Tinder was born inside the IAC-backed incubator, Barry Diller controlled the company from the start, which shaped Rad’s later disputes with the parent corporation. Rad served as Tinder CEO twice before leaving in 2017 amid a valuation dispute, then filed the $2 billion lawsuit against IAC and Match Group that settled for $441 million in June 2022. Match Group countersued Rad for $250 million, alleging he secretly recorded business conversations and copied proprietary files. He now runs Radic Ventures, launched in 2022.
Rad’s tenure also produced Tinder’s most publicized scandal. Whitney Wolfe Herd, who later founded Bumble, sued Tinder, IAC, and Mateen in 2014, alleging Mateen bombarded her with sexist and derogatory messages while both he and Tinder CEO Sean Rad removed her co-founder title because of her gender. The case settled for just over $1 million without admission of wrongdoing and led to Mateen’s resignation and Rad’s temporary demotion to president.
Out of that departure came one of Tinder’s fiercest rivals. Bumble itself emerged from that turmoil. Wolfe Herd founded it in late 2014 with $10 million in seed funding from Badoo founder Andrey Andreev, who took a 79 percent stake in exchange. Andreev sold his entire stake to Blackstone in November 2019 at a $3 billion valuation, with Wolfe Herd becoming CEO of the combined MagicLab entity. Bumble went public in February 2021 at a valuation of over $7 billion. Grindr, founded by Israeli tech entrepreneur Joel Simkhai in Los Angeles in March 2009, passed through Chinese ownership—Beijing Kunlun Tech bought a majority stake in 2016—before CFIUS determined the ownership posed a national security risk and ordered a divestiture; San Vicente Acquisition LLC purchased the app for $608.5 million in 2020.
The political entanglements of these executives extend well beyond their corporate roles. Barry Diller is a heavyweight Democratic donor who has contributed more than $1 million to various campaigns and organizations since 2006. He gave $100,000 to the Biden-Democratic Party joint super PAC in 2023, and in 2025 backed Andrew Cuomo’s independent NYC mayoral campaign through donations to Fix the City, the pro-Cuomo super PAC that attracted several New York billionaires. He has been a financial backer of FWD.us since 2013—the immigration reform advocacy group co-founded by Mark Zuckerberg. Diller publicly endorsed Kamala Harris in 2024 while criticizing both Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
Spencer Rascoff’s political footprint is more diffuse but equally notable. He served on the board of Palantir Technologies from July 2020 to 2022—the data analytics firm with major CIA, military, and government contracts—and currently serves as a board partner at Andreessen Horowitz. In April 2025 he drew significant criticism when Muslim users discovered that Match Group had quietly acquired Salams—a Muslim matchmaking app with over 6 million users — in October 2023, disclosing it only in a February 2024 earnings report with no announcement to users. The backlash intensified when a now-deleted LinkedIn post surfaced in which Rascoff had written: “Proud to support Ohana co-founders Jacob Ian Halbert and Ezra Gershanok’s campaign to help cover rent bills for Israeli soldiers fighting overseas.” Critics combined the LinkedIn post with his former Palantir board seat to raise concerns about data security and the app’s leadership. Salams’ users subsequently began calling for a boycott.
In the case of Sean Rad, he was born into a prominent Iranian-Jewish family whose parents fled Iran in the 1970s before the Khomeini revolution and settled in Bel Air, California, where they ran a consumer electronics business. He has described his community ties as central to his identity—Mateen, his Tinder co-founder, is “Persian Jewish, parents are friends, same community,” he told Rolling Stone. He even went on a conference call with president of Argentina Javier Milei—one of the most pro-Zionist presidents on the planet—in early 2024.
These individual fortunes and their political uses sit atop an enormous industry. The scale of the dating service industry is staggering. IBISWorld estimated the U.S. dating services market at $3.2 billion in 2025, with revenue growing at an 8.1 percent CAGR from 2020 to 2025, while the number of businesses fell to 380—a consolidation that concentrates power in fewer hands. Match Group reported $3.487 billion in full-year 2025 revenue, flat year-over-year, with 14.2 million average payers and a 5 percent annual decline in paying users. Bumble reported $965.7 million in 2025 revenue with 3.7 million paying users.

IBISWorld’s December 2025 report, citing SSRS Opinion Panel data, found that approximately 37 percent of U.S. adults had used a dating site or app as of 2024. Pew Research Center’s survey of 6,034 adults conducted July 5-17, 2022 found 30 percent lifetime use—identical to Pew’s 2019 finding—and 9 percent who had used a dating site or app in the past year. Online dating use is heavily skewed toward the young: among adults under 30, Pew found 53 percent had ever used a dating site or app, compared with 37 percent of those aged 30 to 49, 20 percent of those 50 to 64, and 13 percent of those 65 and older.
The shift in how couples form is equally dramatic. Rosenfeld, Thomas, and Hausen found that among U.S. heterosexual couples, online meeting rose from 2 percent in 1995 to 39 percent in 2017, while meeting through friends fell from 33 percent to 20 percent over the same period. Online meeting first surpassed friends around 2013 and became the single most common way couples meet. Pew found that 10 percent of partnered U.S. adults met their current partner through a dating site or app, rising to 20 percent among partnered adults under 30 and 24 percent among partnered LGB adults. A 2013 PNAS study by Cacioppo et al. found that more than one third of U.S. marriages between 2005 and 2012 began online.
The Jewish leadership in this sector is not incidental. Match Group originated within Barry Diller’s IAC, creating a near monopoly on digital matchmaking Diller’s Jewish roots in San Francisco’s entertainment world, Rascoff’s Harvard pedigree and Zillow fortune, and Rad’s Persian Jewish family that emigrated from Iran in the 1970s represent a concentrated cluster of influence over the mechanisms of modern courtship. These executives shaped the algorithms that turned what was once a communal or family vetted process into a gamified, data-driven commodity.
Their broader political commitments reinforce the pattern of Jewish activism that seeks to disrupt the mores and demographics of broader gentile society. Diller has been a prominent donor to immigration and civil rights causes, including FWD.us since 2013. Rascoff supports expanded immigration and inclusive hiring initiatives aligned with the tech sector’s preferences. Rad, through Tinder’s platform evolution, added numerous gender identity options and promoted inclusive dating practices on a global scale.
The consequences for American social cohesion are measurable. Young Americans are having less sex and reporting fewer partners than prior generations—a documented sex recession—even as dating apps concentrate casual sex-seeking users through selection. App attention is extremely unequal, with Tinder’s like distribution showing a Gini coefficient near 0.58—comparable to some of the most unequal income distributions in the world. The marriage rate continues to decline while online platforms replace the communal institutions of church, alumni networks, and neighborhood ties that once structured courtship.
The architecture of American romance now runs through companies controlled by a small Jewish elite, and that architecture has fundamentally re-ordered how the nation forms its most intimate relationships, much to the detriment of its social fabric.

The Rules is a book that many young women read in the hopes that following these "rules" will land them a husband. Needless to say the authors are jewish and the "rules" will do the exact opposite of helping these women find them a husband
